Prayer

This Fraternal was placed under the protection and patronage of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The statue of Our Lady in her Glorious Assumption, the Patroness of K.J.Z.T. since 1894, in the entrance hall of the State Office, reminds us of the spiritual ideals of our organization.

The Feast of the Assumption celebrates both the happy departure of Mary from this life by her natural death and her assumption bodily into heaven.

Jesus, We Thank You for Wonderful Mother Mary

O God, we thank you for giving us such a wonderful Mother. A Mother to understand us. A Mother to be with us. A Mother to take all our tears, all our problems, all our sins, all our sufferings to Jesus. Mother Mary, pray for us at all times. And together with you, Mother, we want to go to Jesus. Amen

Hail Holy Queen

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, hail, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve: to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus, O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Amen.

Prayer for the Assumption of Mary

In the plan of your wisdom she who bore the Christ in her womb was raised body and soul in glory to be with him in heaven. May we follow her example in reflecting your holiness and join in her hymn of endless love and praise. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer in Times of Natural Disasters

Compassionate Lord, we pray for those who have been devastated by recent natural disasters. We remember those who have lost their lives so suddenly. We hold in our hearts the families forever changed by grief and loss. Bring them consolation and comfort. Surround them with our prayers for strength. Bless those who have survived and heal their memories of trauma and devastation. May they have the courage to face the long road of rebuilding ahead.

We ask your blessing on all those who have lost their homes, their livelihoods, their security and their hope. Bless the work of relief agencies and those providing emergency assistance. May their work be guided by the grace and strength that comes from You alone.

Help us to respond with generosity in prayer, in assistance, in aid to the best of our abilities. Keep our hearts focused on the needs of those affected, even after the crisis is over. We ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Anima Christi

Soul of Christ, make me holy Body of Christ, be my salvation.
Blood of Christ, let me drink your wine.
Water flowing from the side of Christ, wash me clean.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me. Kind Jesus, hear my prayer.
Hide me within your wounds
And keep me close to you.
Defend me from the evil enemy
And call me at the hour of my death
To the fellowship of your saints
That I might sing your praise with them
for all eternity.

Amen.

Assumption Prayer

Dearest Mother, when you died God raised your holy body and soul into heaven.
Intercede for us that we may preserve in doing His will in our lives, as you have done while you were here on earth.
Heal our tired body, wearied mind and restless spirit that we may always rest in your motherly care.
Mary, holy advocate, hear our prayers (mention your intention) and cover us with your healing love.
In honor of your glorious Assumption, I pray one Our Father, three Hail Mary’s and one Glory Be.

Amen.

The Virgin Mary’s acceptance into the glory of Heaven is seen by Catholics as the symbol of the promise made by Jesus to all enduring Christians that they too will be received into paradise.

One Human Family, Food for All

O God, you entrusted to us the fruits of all creation so that we might care for the earth and be nourished with its bounty. You sent us your Son to share our very flesh and blood and to teach us your Law of Love. Through His death and resurrection, we have been formed into one human family.
Jesus showed great concern for those who had no food – even transforming five loaves and two fish into a banquet that served five thousand and many more.
We come before you, O God, conscious of our faults and failures, but full of hope, to share food with all members in this global family. Through your wisdom, inspire leaders of government and of business, as well as all the world’s citizens, to find just, and charitable solutions to end hunger by assuring that all people enjoy the right to food.
Thus we pray, O God, that when we present ourselves for Divine Judgment, we can proclaim ourselves as “One Human Family” with “Food for All”. AMEN.

Prayer to Live as a Child of God

Father in Heaven, when the spirit came down upon Jesus at his Baptism in the Jordan, You revealed him as Your own beloved son. Keep me, Your child, born of water and the spirit, faithful to my calling.
May I, who share in Your life as Your child through baptism, follow in Christ's path of service to people.
Let me become one in His sacrifice and hear His Word with Your faith.
May I live as Your child, following the example of Jesus.

The Official Prayer for World Youth Day 2013

Oh, Father, You sent Your Eternal Son to save the world and chose men and women, through Him, with Him and in Him, to proclaim the Good News to all nations. Grant us the graces necessary so that joy may shine in the faces of all young people, the joy of being, by the power of the Holy Spirit, the evangelists the Church needs in the Third Millennium.

Oh Christ, Redeemer of humanity, the image of Your open arms on the top of Corcovado welcomes all people. In Your paschal offering, You brought us by the Holy Spirit to an encounter of sonship with the Father. Young people, who are fed by Eucharist, hear You in Your Word and meet You as their brother, need your infinite mercy to run the paths of the world missionary-disciples of the New Evangelization.

Oh Holy Spirit, Love of the Father and the Son, with the splendor of Your Truth and the fire of Your Love, send Your Light to all young people so that, driven by their experience of World Youth Day, they may bring to the four corners of the world faith, hope and charity, becoming great builders of a culture of life and peace and catalysts of a new world. Amen!

World Youth Day 2013 will be held from July 23rd to 28th, 2013.

A Farmer's Prayer to Mary

O Blessed Lady of the Fields, who loved the land of your native Galilee, who watched the tiller of the earth and the shepherd of the flock go out and return from Nazareth, who lived with and loved the rural folk of the village, look down graciously upon the fields and pastures of this, your adopted land.
Make our homes sanctuaries of Christ as was your home. Make our fields fertile and abundant in the harvest. Help us to understand more fully the dignity of our toil and the merit it acquires when offered through you to your Divine Son, Jesus Christ, who with the Father and the Holy Spirit, lives and reigns for ever and ever.

Amen.

Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen.

Prayer to End Abortion

Lord God, I thank you for the gift of life.
Nothing destroys more life than abortion,
Yet I rejoice that you have conquered death
By the Resurrection of Your Son.

I am ready to do my part in ending abortion.
I commit myself
Never to be silent,
Never to be passive,
Never to be forgetful of the unborn,
To be active in the Pro-Life Movement,
And never stop defending life
Until all my brothers and sisters are protected.
And my nation once again becomes
A nation with liberty and justice for all.

Amen.

Prayer for Employment

God, our Father, I turn to you seeking your divine help and guidance as I look for suitable employment.
I need your wisdom to guide my footsteps along the right path, and to lead me to find the proper things to say and do in this quest.
I wish to use the gifts and talents you have given me, but I need the opportunity to do so with gainful employment.
Do not abandon me, dear Father, in this search, but rather grant me this favor I seek so that I may return to you with praise and thanksgiving for your gracious assistance.
Grant this through Christ, our Lord.

Amen.

Serenity Prayer

O God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time, accepting hardships as the partway to peace.
Taking, as he did, the sinful world as it is, not as I would have it.
Trusting that he will make all things right if I surrender to His will;
that I may be reasonably happy in this life, and supremely happy with Him forever.

Prayer to St. Medard, Patron Against Bad Weather

Legend says that when he was a child, Medard was once sheltered from the rain by a hovering eagle. This is his most common depiction in art, and led to his patronage of good weather, against bad weather, for people who work the fields, etc.

Jesus My Lord, Saint Medard served as a bishop during very difficult times, and his long life of spiritual leadership created a tremendous impression on the people. Because of his patronage against bad weather, I ask him to intercede for me during the storms of my life as well as the storms in nature. Protect me and my home. And Lord, help the victims of hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes and other natural disasters. Send in more helpers and multiply the supplies that are needed for their aid. You calmed the storm on the Sea of Galilee; deliver us from the storms that are raging around us now. Saint Medard, pray for us. Amen.

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me a channel of thy peace,
that where there is hatred, I may bring love;
that where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness;
that where there is discord, I may bring harmony;
that where there is error, I may bring truth;
that where there is doubt, I may bring faith;
that where there is despair, I may bring hope;
that where there are shadows, I may bring light;
that where there is sadness, I may bring joy.
Lord, grant that I may seek rather to
comfort than to be comforted;
to understand, than to be understood;
to love, than to be loved.
For it is by self-forgetting that one finds.
It is by forgiving that one is forgiven.
It is by dying that one awakens to Eternal Life.

Peace

A Prayer for World Peace

Lord, we pray for the power to be gentle; the strength to be forgiving; the patience to be understanding; and the endurance to accept the consequences of holding to what we believe to be right. May we put our trust in the power of good to overcome evil and the power of love to overcome hatred. We pray for the vision to see and the faith to believe in a world emancipated from violence, a new world where fear shall no longer lead men to commit injustice, nor selfishness make them bring suffering to others. Help us to devote our whole life and thought and energy to the task of making peace, praying always for the inspiration and the power to fulfill the destiny for which we and all men were created.

Prayer for the Nation

Almighty God, You have given us this good land for our heritage. We humbly ask You that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of Your favor and glad to do Your will. Defend our liberties and fashion into one united people the multitude brought here out of many nations and tongues. Endow with the Spirit of wisdom those to whom in Your Name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that through obedience to Your law we may show forth Your praise among the nations on earth. In time of prosperity fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble do not allow our trust in You to fail. Amen.

Prayer to Perceive Animals as God's Gifts

God Our Heavenly Father, You created the world to serve humanity's needs and to lead them to You.
By our own fault we have lost the beautiful relationship which we once had with all Your creation.
Help us to see that by restoring our relationship with You we will also restore it with all Your creation.
Give us the grace to see all animals as gifts from You and to treat them with respect for they are Your creation.
We pray for all animals who are suffering as a result of our neglect.
May the order You originally established be once again restored to the whole world through the intercession of the Glorious Virgin Mary, the prayers of St. Francis and the merits of Your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ Who lives and reigns with You now and forever.

Amen.

Prayer for Peace in the World

Immaculate Heart of Mary, help us to conquer the menace of evil, which so easily takes root in the hearts of the people of today, and whose immeasurable effects already weigh down upon our modern world and seem to block the paths toward the future.

From famine and war, deliver us. From nuclear war, from incalculable self-destruction, from every kind of war, deliver us. From sins against human life from its very beginning, deliver us. From hatred and from the demeaning of the dignity of the children of God, deliver us. From every kind of injustice in the life of society, both national and international, deliver us. From readiness to trample on the commandments of God, deliver us. From attempts to stifle in human hearts the very truth of God, deliver us. From the loss of awareness of good and evil, deliver us. From sins against the Holy Spirit, deliver us.

Accept, O Mother of Christ, this cry laden with the sufferings of all individual human beings, laden with the sufferings of whole societies. Help us with the power of the Holy Spirit conquer all sin: individual sin and the "sin of the world," sin in all its manifestations.

Let there be revealed once more in the history of the world the infinite saving power of the redemption: the power of merciful love. May it put a stop to evil. May it transform consciences. May your Immaculate Heart reveal for all the light of hope.

Amen.
